GIS based Cable Records Management System

Developed initially for the Department of Telecommunications, manages the information about the External Plant (Cables).

The GIS part of this software handles different types of cable diagrams namely – Primary cable diagram, distribution cable diagram, Inner zone diagram. The database part of the software handles the cable pair information of each and every subscriber.

The cable data are superimposed over the digital map of the concerned city / town and are used to localize the faults and to provide phone connections instantly. The software is currently used in many districts of Bharath Sanchar Nigam Limited (Public Sector Telecom giant of Government of India). The entire roads of the District can be digitized and stored for providing information about the cables laid under the earth for Telephone connections.

The software can be developed further to utilize in similar GIS applications for other purposes like in Road Transport Corporations, PWD, Oil Pipelines, Highways Department etc to store DIGITAL road maps and locate various information.


e-Governance for Department of Telecommunications

e-Governance for Department of Telecommunications, which covers the entire Customer Care activities.

The first version developed in Clipper was an independent module Fault Recovery and installed more than 3500 sites.

Second Generation of this software was converted to FoxPro (DOS/Novell) and the scope of the package expanded. The major operating system for these two versions was Novell Netware. This was interfaced with Interactive Voice medias.

The Third Generation of this software was migrated to Windows platform. The whole software was modified to work in DOS (FoxPro for DOS) and Windows (Visual FoxPro) platform with a single source. This emerged as an e-Governance for the entire Customer Care activities.

The Fourth Generation, which is being currently marketed, is totally re-engineered and optimized for Visual FoxPro and ORACLE. The data server can be of Users choice like SOLARIS, SCO UNIX, Linux or Windows and it is web enabled.

The First and Second Generation using Clipper/FoxPro is still working in many Telephone Exchanges across the country and being actively supported by PSL.

Electronic Document filing

This software organizes the documents in electronic form. The electronic storage system closely matches the manual filing system – namely Cabinets, Drawers and Files – making it easy to adopt this system into any establishment. Any type of electronic information (document, voice, picture etc.,) can be stored in this system. The paper documents can be scanned and stored as an image or a text document (wherever applicable). This software has a versatile search feature. With the help of this feature, documents and files can be located easily.

One of the main features of this software is the easy interface with other existing application available in the establishment. For example, in a bank, the account information of a customer available in the banking system can be linked with the corresponding electronic file. Similarly, the subscriber details available in Customer care / Billing system can be linked with the corresponding electronic file of the customer.

Multi-Lingual Voters List

Developed for the State Election Commission of Government of Puducherry. This system maintains and prints the voters list in all the three official languages of Puducherry namely Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu.

The voters list is maintained and printed ward / commune panchayat / Municipality wise for the entire Government of Puducherry covering Puducherry, Mahe, Karaikal and Yanam.
